StreetExit encountered Catherine at a homeless event in Hall County. She was a single woman living in her car who had experienced misfortune and bad luck. She had done nothing to deserve or earn the situation she found herself in yet, here she was. Catherine had a light, a presence, a spark that immediately drew others to her. Even though she was alone, tired, scared, and without forward direction, she was positive.
An agreement that StreetExit makes with clients is that we will never work harder on your success and journey than you will. There is hope. It may take time, but it does happen. This was never a concern for Catherine. She was focused on living differently than she currently was living.
She was given a chance to stay at a shelter which she took advantage of. The case managers talked of her being an ideal client who took advantage of all the opportunities presented to her. She worked hard on her success. She asked about school. Her dream was to go back to college and finish her degree. Referrals were made and soon she was accepted into a college program where she excelled. This past semester she pulled straight A’s. What a great accomplishment.
She finished her educational pursuits and now has a degree. She interviews locally with different schools in hopes of one day becoming a teacher.
Stay tuned for an exciting update on her status.
